The Beauty of Breastfeeding Photography
There’s something sacred about the quiet moments between a mother and her baby—those still, grounding pauses where time slows and connection deepens. Recently, I had the honor of photographing a beautiful breastfeeding session in Oakland County, MI, tucked into a sun-drenched corner of a peaceful home. It was soft, serene, and full of tenderness.
A Journey of Strength and Surrender
For this mama, breastfeeding wasn’t always easy. She shared:
“The beginning was hard. My son was learning to latch, and in the beginning, it was really painful for me—my nipples were raw and cracked. But in moments of pain, I reminded myself that we were both learning how to breastfeed for the first time. If I just gave him the time he needed, we could be successful.”
Her honesty, strength, and vulnerability were deeply moving to witness.

The Sweetest Distraction: Baby A
Baby A (as we’ll call him) was absolutely fascinated by my camera. So much so, that he could hardly focus on nursing! We captured only a few—but truly precious—images of him breastfeeding. The rest of the session? Pure cuteness overload. His candid expressions, gentle smiles, and the way he played to the lens were absolutely heart-melting.
Any photography session with little ones—especially babies—requires flexibility. They are beautifully unpredictable, and I truly believe each session turns out exactly the way it’s meant to. This one was no different. And of course, this mama couldn’t get enough of her sweet boy. Their connection was palpable in every frame.
