Wherever you are on your breastfeeding journey—whether you’re just beginning, in the thick of it, or preparing to wean—I see you. I honor the emotions, the challenges, and the quiet victories that come with it. Breastfeeding is deeply personal, often emotional, and always evolving. Some days feel like magic, others like survival. But through it all, there is love. There is connection. And there is beauty.
As a Metro Detroit birth and motherhood photographer, breastfeeding photography is one of the most heartfelt offerings I provide. There is something truly sacred about preserving this chapter—a chapter filled with both tenderness and tenacity. These sessions aren’t just about images; they are about holding space for your story, just as it is, in all its softness and strength.
Every breastfeeding story is unique, and each one is worthy of being honored. It’s a sacred season in motherhood—one with no set timeline, yet it passes more quickly than we realize.
Because one day, when your baby is no longer so little, you’ll have something tangible to look back on together… and remember how deeply you were connected, heart to heart.
While breastfeeding is often portrayed as a purely beautiful and sacred bond—and it absolutely can be—it’s also not always an easy one to maintain. Right now, I’m in the thick of navigating that tension. I’m in the process of gently weaning my almost two-year-old, and if I’m honest, I’m feeling completely touched out.
Sensory-wise, I’ve hit my limit. I’m finding it harder and harder to tolerate the sensation, especially with her little teeth. She’s also using breastfeeding as her main coping mechanism—something I completely understand is normal at this age—but lately it feels like I’m being chased around the house by a tiny person screaming for boob. I’ve reached my capacity, and for the sake of my mental health, I know it’s time to begin this transition.
And yet… I see how much she loves it. The pure, unfiltered joy on her face when it’s time to nurse melts me. That radiant happiness, the comfort, the safety—it’s everything. So I’m holding both truths: the love and the overwhelm, the joy and the fatigue. And I know I’m not alone in that. This is the emotional complexity so many of us face on the breastfeeding journey.
These personal experiences have deeply shaped how I show up as a photographer. They’ve inspired me to capture other mothers in their own breastfeeding moments—whether they’re in the early days, the golden middle, or at the bittersweet edge of weaning. Watching another mama nourish and connect with her baby is a profound reminder of just how sacred this bond truly is.
Breastfeeding is a spiritual, emotional, and physical relationship—and it deserves to be honored, witnessed, and remembered.
They’re rooted in connection, not posing. There’s no pressure to perform or “smile for the camera”—just a gentle space to be fully present in this sacred bond. I often interact with your little one to help them feel at ease, and it’s usually in those unscripted moments that the sweetest images unfold.
Most in-home sessions take place in a cozy bedroom with beautiful natural light—somewhere that feels safe and intimate. Outdoor sessions are also a lovely option, especially in spaces that feel serene and grounded in nature.
To help you feel confident and prepared, every mama receives a detailed Preparation Guide and access to my curated Mother’s Wardrobe. I’m drawn to soft textures, shawls, boho-inspired pieces, and earthy tones—but truly, the most important thing is that you feel radiant and at home in what you’re wearing. I have many beautiful items available for you to borrow, but I also love helping you uncover gems in your own closet—pieces you might not even realize would photograph so beautifully.
For many, breastfeeding is a hard-earned journey—these photos celebrate that strength. They hold space for every part of your story: the late nights, the tears, the triumphs, and the moments you almost gave up but didn’t.
It’s not about perfection—it’s about honoring what is. Whether you’ve nursed for days or years, whether you’re exclusively breastfeeding or doing it alongside bottles or pumping—it’s all valid. It’s all beautiful.
By documenting this bond, we help normalize breastfeeding in all its forms. We create visibility, affirmation, and celebration. Most importantly, we help mamas feel seen and empowered in their own skin, in their own strength.
If you’ve ever thought, “Should I capture this?”—the answer is yes. Whether your journey has been long, brief, joyful, or complicated, it’s still a chapter worth remembering.
You don’t need a perfectly tidy home or a baby who always latches with ease. You just need to show up as you are—with your love, your story, and your baby in your arms.
Breastfeeding images can also be incorporated into a motherhood or family session. Even just a few quiet moments captured can be incredibly meaningful.
This season won’t last forever—but it leaves an imprint that never fades. One day, you’ll miss the way your baby curled into you, the way they looked up with sleepy eyes, the way your body nourished and comforted them.
You deserve to remember it all—not just with your heart, but with beautiful, lasting images. If you’re curious, have questions, or aren’t quite sure if a session is right for you, I’d love to chat. There’s no pressure—just an open, supportive conversation.
Ready to preserve your story in a way that’s as natural and nurturing as the bond you share? Let’s create something beautiful together.
