As a birth worker and mother, I know how deeply transformative the journey into motherhood can be. It’s a sacred, raw, and beautiful experience—and having the right support by your side makes all the difference. That’s why I am so excited to have decided to become apart of the Christian Doulas of Michigan. This community of women is grounded in faith, overflowing with compassion, and dedicated to walking alongside families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with Christ at the center.
Whether you’re planning your first birth or welcoming your fourth baby, finding a doula who shares your values and understands your spiritual needs can be incredibly grounding. That’s exactly what this group is about: connecting families with doulas who support not just the body, but also the heart and soul.
Our Mission
Christian Doulas of Michigan exists to glorify God by nurturing and educating families through the sacred season of childbirth. We believe birth is holy work, and our doulas provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support with grace, strength, and prayerful presence. Our mission is to walk with families in love and truth—whether that’s through prenatal visits, labor support, postpartum care, or simply praying together through the unknowns.

I’m honored to introduce some of the incredible Christian doulas who are serving Metro Detroit with such wisdom and heart:
- Debra Kuchlbauer (Doula Debra): Offering birth and postpartum services with a nurturing and empowering approach, Debra is a calming presence for Metro Detroit families. Her heart for advocacy and encouragement shines through every birth she attends.
- Kelly Townsend: A birth and postpartum doula as well as a lactation educator, Kelly serves Metro Detroit with a commitment to whole-family care. Her warm spirit and educational approach provide peace and confidence to the families she supports.
- Sydney Todd: A birth doula and educator, Sydney offers both childbirth and breastfeeding education. She has a heart for empowering families with knowledge, faith, and calm support throughout the journey.
- Eliza Patton: Eliza is a birth and postpartum doula who specializes in home birth support. Her care is rooted in experience, prayer, and honoring the sacred space of birth at home.
- Stephanie Eberly: As a birth doula, Stephanie walks beside families with grace and gentleness, helping them feel supported and prepared for labor and birth.
- Jennifer Lewandowski: Jennifer offers birth, postpartum, and bereavement doula services, as well as childbirth education and lactation support. Her compassionate care brings peace to even the most delicate situations.
- Emily Stewart: Emily is both a birth and bereavement doula, offering tender support for families through moments of joy and grief. Her presence is a true ministry of love.
- Danielle Loukota: Danielle serves Metro Detroit families as a birth doula with deep empathy and strength, walking hand-in-hand with families through every stage of labor.
- Cindy Evans: Cindy is both a birth and postpartum doula whose nurturing care provides continuity and comfort for families welcoming new life.
- Kristie Anderson: Kristie supports families as a birth doula, offering prayerful guidance and unwavering support throughout pregnancy and labor.
- Sydney Murphy: Sydney offers birth doula services and holistic nutrition coaching, blending physical, emotional, and nutritional support in a thoughtful and faith-based way.
- Angela Jenks: A birth and postpartum doula, Angela’s calming spirit and strong support help families transition into parenthood with confidence and peace.
- Jen Kosakowski: Jen provides dedicated postpartum doula support, nurturing mothers through those early tender days with gentleness and care.
- Rachel Miller: Based in Farmington Hills, Rachel offers birth doula support with a faith-centered approach. Her presence is gentle, reassuring, and rooted in prayerful care.
- Jennifer Gowan: Co-founder of Christian Doulas of Michigan and a birth doula serving the Metro area, Jennifer brings experience, wisdom, and a ministry mindset to every client relationship.
- Kari Griffin: Kari supports Metro Detroit families with a passion for birth as a spiritual and physical journey. Her grounding presence helps mothers feel seen, heard, and supported.
- Jessica Rosado: Serving the Downriver area, Jessica offers postpartum doula care with a focus on nurturing both baby and mother. She’s known for her calm, reliable presence and deep compassion.
- Mary Piasecki: Co-founder of Christian Doulas of Michigan, Mary is a birth doula and birth plan consultant who brings deep intentionality and wisdom into every birth space.
- Arkady Brown: That’s me! I offer birth photography and doula support in Metro Detroit. Beginning in July, I’ll be providing doula services exclusively to my birth photography clients—merging faith-filled support with timeless, emotive imagery.
These women—and many others across the state—are doing incredible work in birth spaces, and it’s a joy to see them pour their hearts into serving families.
Our Founders’ Heartbeat
The vision behind Christian Doulas of Michigan began with two women who felt a calling to bring more faith and fellowship into the birth world. Jennifer Gowan and Mary Piasecki saw a need for Christ-centered support and encouragement—not just for clients, but for doulas, too. Together, they created a space where Christian birth workers could be equipped, uplifted, and sent out to love families well. Their vision continues to grow as more doulas join this mission and more families experience faith-filled birth support.
